Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Therapy Services

Before beginning Mosaic Counseling Jaben worked for several years in a community health agency in the Tacoma area. He worked with hundreds of clients ages 4-64 with a variety of mental health issues ranging from anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, Bipolar and Schizophrenia. He has worked with individuals, couples, families and lead recovery groups.

He practices primarily from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) orientation. ACT focuses on developing psychological flexibility. What this includes is noticing thoughts and feelings that get in the way of living inline with our values. Avoidance and rumination tend to be common traps for many of us. These get in the way of us gaining perspective, focusing on what is changeable and staying engaged in the moment. Would you like to think and feel differently? Well, by changing how we view problems and doing actions that work (instead of those which don’t work) often huge mountains in our lives deflate down to a manageable size. Through this model of therapy, problems move from being overwhelming to manageable.

Jaben also loves to incorporate techniques into his work with clients from Internal Family Systems (IFS) by Richard Schwartz, The 30 Task Model by Patrick Carnes (for Sexual Addicted clients) and The Finding Peace Model by Troy Love (for Attachment Wounded clients.)

Individual and Group therapy- Are there things about yourself you have noticed you would like to change? Individual Therapy can be a helpful place to gain clarity. Adding in Group Therapy with like-mind individuals can expedite and enrich your growth in ways Individual Therapy alone can not.

Attachment Wounds- Are there events in your life especially when you were young and more vulnerable that lead to loss, rejection, neglect, abandonments, betrayal or abuse? Are the effects of these still showing up in your current life?

Sexual Addiction- Perhaps for the first time you are starting to identify troubling addictive behaviors that have taken hold and impacting other parts of your life? Addiction grows in the darkness so you are invited to bring it into the light and begin to work toward recovery via Individual Therapy and Group Therapy.

Spiritual Issues- Is your personal faith an important part of your life? Or is there some wounding or rigidity there that keeps you stuck? If so let’s include this in our work together as you work toward integration.
